The AMA rules

The AMA Manual of Style is the standard for medical publications including JAMA.

  1. Capitalize the first and last words.
  2. Capitalize all major words.
  3. Lowercase articles, coordinating conjunctions, and prepositions of three letters or fewer.
  4. Capitalize prepositions of four or more letters.
  5. Capitalize after a colon.
