title-case rules

For wikipedia article titles and section headings.

The Wikipedia rules

Wikipedia's manual of style mandates a hybrid of title case for article titles and sentence case for subsections.

  1. Capitalize the first letter of the first word.
  2. Capitalize all major words.
  3. Lowercase articles, coordinating conjunctions, and short prepositions of four letters or fewer.
  4. Capitalize after a colon.
  5. Do not capitalize the second part of hyphenated compounds in most cases.

  • After a colon — the first word after a colon is capitalized.
